Peter Kay to make rare showbiz appearance after three years out of spotlight

Peter Kay will make a rare showbiz appearance next month after more than three years out of the spotlight.

The funnyman will record a one-off show with Cat Deeley for BBC Radio 2 on Saturday, January 2, reports the Mirror.

It will be the 47-year-old’s first major appearance after a raft of performance cancellations in December 2017.

He said that the decision was due to “unforeseen family circumstances” at the time.

The popular comedian was last seen on television for a brief appearance on BBC’s Big Night in during April this year.

He has been enjoying a quiet life with wife Susan Gargan and hasn’t felt the need to yet return to the showbiz spotlight.

Cat and husband Patrick, along with their two sons, Milo, four, and James, two, returned to the UK earlier this year after years of living out in Los Angeles.

The former SM:TV star is in “advance talks” for a lucrative come back on UK telly in 2021.

She is working hard to secure her very own primetime game show but is looking forward to her radio return in January.

Speaking about making her Radio 2 debut, Cat said: “We’re a radio house, so Radio 2 is constantly on in the kitchen, all day, every day, even when we were in LA.

“Although, due to the time difference, the line-up was slightly different.
