Police launch desperate plea to help trace missing Holytown woman

The search for a missing Holytown woman is ongoing this morning as “concern” continues to grow for her wellbeing.

An plea for information surrounding Mary Newton was issued on Saturday evening with her having last been seen around 11.40am that day.

The 49-year-old was reportedly last seen leaving the car park of Wishaw General, heading towards Glasgow Road at that time.

Now police are appealing for information to help trace Mary.

PC David Nicholl told Lanarkshire Live: “We, along with Mary’s family, are concerned for her wellbeing and want to know she is okay.

“Mary doesn’t have her phone, bank cards or any cash on her and we don’t believe she has access to a vehicle.

“I’m asking anyone who thinks they may have seen Mary, or for Mary herself, to contact us.”

Mary, who lives in Lanarkshire but has connections to Glasgow, is described as 5ft 3in, with shoulder length greying blonde hair, blue eyes and of slim build.

When last seen, Mary was wearing black leggings, black top, black jacket and black trainers.
