Sir Rod Stewart has welcomed a new addition into his growing family of pets after he bought his youngest son a hamster.
The Celtic fan and wife Penny Lancaster gave fans a glimpse into life at their Essex countryside estate and revealed the rodent was nine-year-old son Aiden’s ‘favourite’ Christmas present.
The animal-daft pair, who have spent lockdown holed up in their mansion, recently welcomed three pygmy goats to the family farm to add to their collection of dogs and chickens.
Penny, 49, took to her Instagram stories to share an adorable video with her youngest child as they bonded over the new pet hamster.
“Aiden’s favourite Christmas present,” she wrote over the video as the animal’s head popped out of the tube.
In the heart-warming clip, Aiden tell his mum: “Watch, when she goes back it’s so funny to watch, just watch.”
To which Penny replied: “Oh, he’s so cute.”
It comes three months after Rod and Penny welcomed three seven-month-old pygmy goats named Rupert, Biscuit, and Hazel.
The Loose Women star, who lives with children Alastair, 14, and Aiden, revealed she was “falling in love” with the new additions.
The couple also own chickens and their beloved family dogs, Bubbles and Lily, and who they regularly post photos of on social media.
Photographer Penny previously told how the family fell in love with rescue pup Lily, formerly named Blondie, after adopting her two years ago.
The Labrador-Poodle-cross puppy was rescued from Battersea Dogs Home by the couple and became an instant hit at the their Essex home with their kids.
It comes after the rocker turned 76 earlier this week as Penny shared a post and photos from “all of the Stewart clan” to mark the milestone on Instagram.
He is dad to Sarah, 57, Kimberly, 41, Sean, 40, Ruby, 33, as well as Renee, 28, and 26-year-old Liam from his four previous relationships.
