History
The Orthodontic Clinic was originally established in 2006 and was under different management.
The clinic went through some struggles in 2013 and the previous owners wanted to sell the business. Lisa and Ivin saw the opportunity for turning the business into a success and decided to purchase the company.
With Lisa’s clinical experience and Ivin’s business acumen, they had faith in their abilities in what the company could be. Buying over the clinic was a very challenging time due to the inheritance of some difficult problems. Despite this, they knew they could grow the business into something great. They persevered and stuck it out.
It was important to them that the staff could count on them to hold steady and they promised there would be no job cuts, no salary reductions and for business to carry on as usual. They kept their promise. Fast forward 10 years and the Orthodontic Clinic has established itself as a multi-award winning practice, with accolades won in every year both Scotland and UK-wide from 2016 to date. The only year that an award was not won by the clinic was in 2020, during the Covid pandemic, where the clinic did not put forward any entries for awards.
The Orthodontic Clinic will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year under the directorship of Dr Lisa Currie and Ivin Tan.
New premises
In 2018 the clinic moved into newly refurbished premises, a transformed 4-storey Victorian granite building.
Planning and designing every last detail of the impressive 6-surgery clinic was one of the company’s highlights, where Lisa and Ivin’s dreams could be turned into a physical reality, seeing all their hard work come to fruition.

• Where the staff are proud to belong and where patients feel a pleasure visiting
• Where the team feel that they are more an extended family rather than “staff members”
• Where there is a close relationship with local businesses and the community and the clinic can give back and support charities
Highlights over the past 10 years
• Winning the clinic’s first ever award in 2016 for “Most Improved Practice” from Dentistry Scotland Awards - such an acknowledgement of all the hard work and dedication put into the business
• Compounding this success in 2017, the clinic won the “Best Team Award” at the Scottish Dental Awards. This was so important to the clinic as it recognised the team that Lisa and Ivin have worked so hard to build and nurture
• At a local level, outside the dental community, Lisa and Ivin won “Employer of the Year Award” at the Elevator Awards in 2018. At a business level, this was such a positive affirmation of the way they lead the company
• Refurbishing and designing the new clinic in the new premises during 2017-2018, project managing the entire process. Revealing the brand new clinic to the team and patients was truly wonderful and so rewarding.
What does the future hold?
Lisa and Ivin are incredibly proud of what the clinic has achieved so far and hope to build on its strong foundations and see the clinic grow. Maintaining the high levels of clinical care and enhancing the patient experience will be important.
The team is at the very heart of The Orthodontic Clinic and Lisa and Ivin look forward to investing in them and providing more opportunities to watch them develop and see them shine. Bring on the next 10 years!
