Thierry Henry in Arsenal takeover claim as he warns potential buyer Daniel Ek is ‘here to stay’

Arsenal icon Thierry Henry has lifted the lid on takeover talks having been caught on camera with Daniel Ek during the win over Tottenham.

Spotify founder Ek, whose bid for the Gunners was turned down by owner Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, was spotted in the stadium for the first time since his previous takeover attempt on Twitter back in May.

Henry appeared on Sky Sports for punditry duties ahead of Crystal Palace’s clash with Brighton.

The legendary striker is heavily involved in Ek’s bid to take control of the club with the would-be owner seeing him as a key figure.

He looked back on the North London derby, and insisted Ek will be back.

He said: “To be able to get there you need to have someone to respond on the other side.

“He, we, is here to stay. There is no dialogue at the moment.

“I think it’s going to be long, but we are here to stay.”

Earlier this year, Ek wasn’t shy about opening up on his bit to takeover the Premier League giants.

He wrote: “Inaccurate reports emerged today saying I have not made a bid for Arsenal Football Club.

“I think it’s important to correct the record – this week an offer was made to both Josh Kroenke and their bankers that included fan ownership, representation at board and a golden share for the supporter.

“They replied that they don’t need the money.

“I remain interested should that situation ever change.”

Ek’s bid was previously revealed to involve legends of the Premier League giants including Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira, though the latter is now in the hotseat at Crystal Palace.
