Spotlight on Sonya’s Entrepreneurial Journey

Inspiration Behind the Boutique

Sonya’s entrepreneurial dream started when she first began her career as a buyer at Jenners in her hometown of Edinburgh. A decade ago, when life brought her to Aberdeen, the opportunity arose to start her own business and she seized it wholeheartedly – manifesting her lifelong ambition at the age of 45.

Setting The Unique Boutique Apart

Every item in the store is handpicked by Sonya herself, ensuring a distinctive and personal touch. She attends trade shows in London and Harrogate, always on the lookout for exceptional additions to her collection.

Notable Milestones and Local Connections

From starting off by herself to now leading a team of four wonderful local ladies, Sonya takes pride in the shop’s growth. Her team, all living within a stone’s throw of the shop, share a strong community bond – their children all attended the primary and secondary schools and most of the ladies are volunteers at the local charity shop, “Chest, Heart, Stroke Scotland”, fostering a genuine sense of community spirit.

Future Plans and Evolving Offerings

Sonya’s quest for innovation and fresh offerings continues. Her upcoming trips to Harrogate and London in January and February respectively promise new and exciting merchandise, ensuring that her boutique always evolves with the times.

Relaxation and Personal Escapes

Amidst her busy schedule, Sundays offer Sonya a well-deserved rest. She enjoys playing the cello in her local Church Orchestra—a cherished hobby since childhood. Leisurely walks in Hazelhead Park, sitting down with a latte and watching the world go by are among her simple pleasures along with a trip to Ben Reid Garden Centre in Countesswells for some gardening inspiration.

As for more extravagant treats, Sonya enjoys dining out at the prestigious, family-run The Marcliffe Hotel, near to where she lives or escapes to Banchory Lodge Hotel for dinners with family and friends.

Wrapping Up: Spotlight on Sonya Angus

It’s clearly evident that Sonya has a real passion and enthusiasm for The Unique Boutique and that as a small business, Sonya and her team are committed to providing exceptional customer service.  As Sonya looks towards the next phase of her entrepreneurial journey, What’s On In Aberdeen wish her continued success in shaping the boutique’s future.
