Aberdeen’s Christmas festivities will continue on Monday (1 December) with a blessing service for the nativity scene in Union Terrace Gardens.
The Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Dr David Cameron, will welcome local schools and members of the public for the service on Monday at 10:30am.
The Lord Provost said: “The nativity scene serves as a reminder of hope, kindness, and unity for all.
“I am looking forward to singing carols alongside our young people, who each year sing beautifully and help spread the festive cheer.”
The ceremony will be led by Aberdeen Churches Together, which is made up of multi-cultural religious groups from across the city.
Councillor Martin Greig will close the ceremony with a vote of thanks.
Popular Christmas carols will be sung by local primary school children from St Joseph’s RC, Robert Gordon’s College and St Margaret’s School for Girls, including Away in a Manger and It was on a Starry Night.
The Nativity scene will be available to view daily until 4 January 2026 and will be located in the glazed arches closest to Union Street.
Union Terrace Gardens has also been festively lit, and features part of the Christmas Light-Up Trail, where visitors and locals can embark on a journey to find 12 twinkling decorations across the city, each created in collaboration with local charities.
Christmas celebrations will continue following the Nativity scene blessing with the Christmas Carols sing-a-long at the David Welch Winter Gardens on Saturday 13 December.
